What is Moonstar?
Moonstar is an online role-playing game (RPG). A role-playing game, according to
dictionary.com, is a game in which
players assume the roles of characters and act out fantastical adventures, the
outcomes of which are partially determined by chance. Online RPGs usually have
interactive adventures. There are many Harry Potter RPGs involving Hogwarts
classes and playing Quidditch.
What goes on at
Moonstar?
Mostly, you learn magical things like Potions and Charms.
When you get older, you can explore Hogsmear, one of the few magic towns in the
USA. Soon you can play Quodpot, enter pet contests, and go on adventures.
Who do I need to know at
Moonstar?
Dean Doodlebore is head of Moonstar. But fez is the
moderator. Fez looks over the site and creates new things
for it. Fez is even writing this FAQ.
Didn't this site
used to be called Hogwartz?
Yes and no. This
site is Hogwartz. I closed down Hogwartz around September 2005 after losing
interest. Now I have reopened the website under a new name and under a new
domain.
How does Moonstar differ from the original
Hogwartz?
The difference is that, once this site is up, I will be doing a lot less
work. This version of the site has no forms so I will not be getting dozens of
e-mails that inteferes with my regular life. There is no joining houses, buying
pets, or getting rooms. Everything is done on your own.
How did you come
up with the name "Moonstar"?
I once used the name Moonstar in a Harry Potter role-palying form. I
liked the name and decided I would use it for the renaming.
As for Hogwartz: the game was originally going to be a parody of Hogwarts, which
was why there was a backwards "S" (a.k.a. the letter "Z") in the logo. That idea
was scratched, but the name was kept.
Do I need to read the Harry Potter series
to understand what's going on?
No, because most of this site is made-up. But it does
help. By reading the books, you'll understand what's going on better.
Is the time frame the
same as in the Harry Potter books?
No. The series takes place in the 1990s. Moonstar takes place now. You will notice in some parts of the game that it
makes reference to things in the books, but acts as though those things happened
a long time ago. For example, the American Wizard Times mentions the famous Weasley Wizard Wheebees factory.
